| XP 32bit, Vista Home Premium 64bit | Random Vista 64 Freezes... Cant seem to do anything really. Alright; so here is the thing. I recently got a new computer; specs shown below... ASUS P5NE-SLI Intel Conroe Q6600 Thermaltake Cyclo RAM Cooler (x2)2G 800 Apacer (Only one installed due to error) (x2)Seagate 500G SATA 512MB 8800GTS Gigabyte Asus SATA 20X AOPEN SATA 20X DVD Burner 20” DVI WS Proview LB2006-2ms Logitech X230 2.1 Black 1.44M Floppy Disk Drive Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Logitech Laser G5 120m Coolermaster System Case Fan Thermaltake Blue Orb FX Antec T.P.3 Trio 650W Antec Nine-Hundred Vista Home Premium 64 bit Okay and well the computer guy said that they had updated all the drivers; but when I got it they still hadnt installed my graphics card; and thus I did that. When I first booted vista in defults I set the rez up; and it froze; after restarting I noticed my graphics card did not have drivers; so I downloaded them and got rid of areo (I prefer the classic theme/startmenu) Point is; it still froze; and it keeps on freezing at random times. They said they couldnt have the full 4 gigs in it; because for some reason it was having a error; they downloaded the hotfix but it still didnt work; and killed my ablity to update my windows. So yeah; I tried to update the 45 "critical" updates but to my dismay they didnt work; I read online that if installed incorrectly the hotfix for the 4 gig problem may cause updater to not work. I was told to go into reg edit and delete a certain entry; I did so and it at least picked up that updates without getting the 8000FFFF error; but still showed the hotfix in the installed section and still froze. So I then decided to download the leeked 64 bit service pack (downloading now) and I am scared; what if this SP either doesnt contain the 45 updates I need or freezes when I install it. What should I do to either fix the freezing problem or allow me to install SP1 will SP1 even help? I am new to 64 bit and really need help fixing this; I am going to university soon and need to transfer my files and get it working. Does anyone have any ideas? I was told that maybe underclocking my ram to 667 may help.. but Im not really 100% sure how to do that; so yeah I really need help with this; its getting really late; SP1 is almost downloaded and I really REALLY need this computer fixed in the next 3 days or I am ahem... Please help me; thanks Kieron |

| XP 32bit, Vista Home Premium 64bit | Re: Random Vista 64 Freezes... Cant seem to do anything really. I went back to a system restore point before the file was installed that screwed the updater up... so as long as it doesnt freeze I will try my hardest to install SP1 |
