| | Unexpected Shutdown How do I fix this problem. My new Dell Inspiron 531S shuts down unexpectedly several times a day. When I follow the Microsoft link to "correct this problem" Microsoft wants me to download an update, but then says the update doesn't apply to my computer...This is the gist of the error report: Product Windows Problem Shut down unexpectedly Date 2/13/2008 5:39 AM Status Not Reported Problem signature Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Files that help describe the problem (some files may no longer be available) Mini021308-02.dmp sysdata.xml Version.txt Extra information about the problem BCCode: 9f BCP1: 00000003 BCP2: 84AD16D8 BCP3: 87BEE030 BCP4: 85615490 OS Version: 6_0_6000 Service Pack: 0_0 Product: 768_1 Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

| | RE: Unexpected Shutdown This is John at Dell headquarters. From the information you've provided, it looks like you're getting a 0x0000009F error. Is the update you're being asked to download and install the same as the one in the following KB article? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929762 Do you have any peripherals connected to this machine? | | RE: Unexpected Shutdown John, I have same problem. Had the system about a month. Been out of town so have not called Dell yet. I have a Samsung ml 1740 printer attached to computer. The 929762 message says not for this computer. The computer hibernates after you leave for a couple of hours. When you wake it up, get the blue error screen and then restarts with the "normal start" highlighted.
