| Guest | wifi Has anyone had a problem with their wifi after logging back in from being away for a while? It won't connect or even detect any networks. If I restart the laptop it will connect properly. Is there anyway for it to work without restarting? M |

| Guest | Re: wifi These two KB articles will probably help: http://support.microsoft.com/KB/928152 http://support.microsoft.com/KB/943899 I think this is addressed with SP1. | Guest | Re: wifi Hi Michael, In addition to the articles given you by Mark, you may also check with the system manufacturer for an updated wireless driver. Also, some include their own wireless connection management software, while others rely on Windows' own. I generally have found the latter to be better, but it can't hurt to try both to see which works for you. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Michael Morin" <mpmorin@xxxxxx> wrote in message news BD7F954-921C-4188-A6B0-0055354225FA@xxxxxxQuote: > Has anyone had a problem with their wifi after logging back in from being > away for a while? | Member | Re: wifi I have a feeling that the wi-fi isn't waking up because Windows has the option of turning the wi-fi card off to save power. And when it comes out of hibernation Windows I believe keeps it off. I usually turn off this option so the wi-fi is on at all times. You can manually turn it off with a switch on laptops if you want to save power. |

| The Master of Evil | Re: wifi I have never had a lot of issues with that. Then again, HP uses a different program that comes preinstalled on their systems for connecting and maintaining a wireless connection. |

I click on the refresh icon and it finds it and auto connects straight away. |

| Member | Re: wifi HP has done me wrong. My wi-fi card on an HP conked out and they don't want to even bother to fix it. They may sound like they care but after multiple e-mails from tech support they stopped communicating. |
