| | Using PC mover A couple of months ago I purchased a Dell Inspiron 1720 with Vista. I used PC mover to transfer all data from my Dell Inspiron 5100 running XP to the 1720. Now I believe I have updates and hotfixes from my 5100 on my 1720. Does anyone know if I can delete them? Or will deleting them cause me more problems than I already have. 1. Cannot download or install most updates, some do get through. 2. Cannot create restore point. 3. Cannot uninstall programs. 4. Cannot install upgrades from a CD. 5. Currently disabled windows firewall, and deleted McAfee. No other firewall as far as I can tell. Any comments and/or help will be appreciated. -- opalocka |

| Vista Home Premium 64-bit | Re: Using PC mover I have not checked everything out, but I have the same issue with the firewall. On my new Vista laptop, I cannot select to invoke the Windows firewall. On tech at Laplink suggested to reload the software (vista) or check the Windows site for help. I did put in another service request. have not heard yet. But if I do, I will let you know. |

| Vista Home Premium 64-bit | Re: Using PC mover I am running Vista Home Premiun 64 bit with service pack 1. I am not sure of the version of PCmover, but when I did the install, it does check for the most current version. There is no error message except that the choice to select turning on windows firewall is grayed out and the option for turning it on manually does not work either. There is a note that says it might be controlled by a group policy,as for some reason I have a setting that has my laptop as running on a public network. But I don't have it on a public network, I have it running on my home network. I can't figure out where to change to group policy information either. Thanks, |
