| | Upgrade to the latest retail version of Windows Vista I get this message in the Problem Reports and Solutions window:- The problem was caused by Windows Vista, which was created by Microsoft Corporation. You are running a beta version of Windows Vista, which is no longer supported by Microsoft Corporation. I've clicked on the website to upgrade which is what it tells me to do but it just takes me to a page to buy an upgrade - is this right? |

| | RE: Upgrade to the latest retail version of Windows Vista Are you running a Beta version? Did you buy your computer with Vista pre-installed? Has this solution recently popped up after an update? If you have an OEM or Retail copy of Vista, ring Microsoft and explain to them the problem. -- Mick Murphy - Qld - Australia "Babinaba" wrote: Quote: > I get this message in the Problem Reports and Solutions window:- > > The problem was caused by Windows Vista, which was created by Microsoft > Corporation. | | Re: Upgrade to the latest retail version of Windows Vista Hi, Likely no, you are not running a beta. I still see this common error on production machines, including the one I'm using right now. I've yet to recieve a satisfactory explanation as to why it occurs, but I believe it to be a leftover generic response from the beta phase that simply was never removed. You need only run winver from the start/search line and verify that your build is 6000 (release) or 6001 (SP1) to eliminate any possibility that you are running a beta distribution. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Babinaba" <Babinaba@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:45159C63-9542-42E6-A8E2-816F7B19DBB4@xxxxxx Quote: >I get this message in the Problem Reports and Solutions window:- > > The problem was caused by Windows Vista, which was created by Microsoft > Corporation. | | Re: Upgrade to the latest retail version of Windows Vista Hi Jen, The problem I was referring to is an incorrect message that appears on some systems in the Problems Reports and Solutions applet in the Control Panel. It's not an error message that appears when installing software, nor does it prevent a user from installing and running software in a Vista system. Specifically what error message are you seeing and what version of Vista are you installing the software in? As you mentioned that it is an enterprise version, have you tried opening a trouble ticket with your IT area? -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Jen" <Jen@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:25ED459E-D7D9-4E06-80C6-948E54941EC8@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi > also have this problem when trying to load a license copy of Office > Enterprise 2007 - what can I do abouty it - cannot get softward to load > > Jen > > "Rick Rogers" wrote: > Quote: >> Hi, >> >> Likely no, you are not running a beta. | | Re: Upgrade to the latest retail version of Windows Vista I'm having the same problem. It looks like everything (?) installed, but the installer did fail near the end. For some reason it doesn't look like Windows Update gave me or wants to give me Service Pack 1.
