Re: How to delete hiberfil.sys

Hi,

To delete it you must first disable the ability to hibernate in the Control
Panel/Power Options, then reboot.

Open up Start Menu > Accessories > System Tools, and run Disk Cleanup.
Select the option to perform a cleanup for all users. When the initial
scanning is done, make sure you check the Clean Hibernation file option.

Re: How to delete hiberfil.sys

Actually, you can do it the other way around. If you delete the hibernation
file by selecting it in the Disk Cleanup (all users) list it will become
unavailable in Power Options.

Hi Sunw,

This will show you how to delete and restore the hiberfil.sys file.

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/63...tml#post317574

Deleting this file will disable the Hibernation sleep mode though. If you do not use Hibernation, then it is safe to delete.
