| | windows update no longer works I get an error whenever I try to use Windows Update. *Windows Modules Installer stopped working and was closed. *Running sfc /scannow as Administrator fails with: *Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service* And the kb947821 package to use CheckSUR fails with: *This update does not apply to your system.* And trying to install SP1 via Windows6.0-KB936330-X86-wave0.exe also fails. Can anyone help me figure out how to get my Windows Vista Home Premium working again? Thanks, David -- dabbler Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

Thanks, David -- dabbler Posted via Microsoft Windows Vista Community Forums - Vistaheads A) Windows updates :- Control Panel> choose Classic View, click Windows Updates > left panel, click Change Settings > checkmark Install Updates Automatically ( a blue dot will appear ), further down, checkmark Recommended Updates, under Update Service, checkmark Use Microsoft Update. See if that solves the problem. B) sfc /scannow : - ( make sure you're logged in on your admin.account) Start menu > type cmd on search box > right click cmd at the top > click Run As Administrator > type sfc /scannow , press Enter. It should work. If it is successful, it will say 100% complete. It will also say you have corrupted files that it cannot repair. Someone from this forum once said that he/she had yet to see a sfc resulted with no corrupted files. I never pay attention to the corrupted files message, but that's me. Please reply whether it works for you or not. Good luck and thank you. |
