Vista - PC Goes to Sleep and Freezes requiering a reboot to fix

I am using the Windows default power settings for allowing the PC to go into
sleep mode, and when it goes to sleep, the PC freezes. I get a herringbone
pattern on the screen and cannot get the PC to respond, and the only way to
fix the problem is with a reboot. I have also tried changing the times for
sleeping and get the same result.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Go to Advance Power Settings.
Set hard drive to turn off a minute or 2 before sleep.
Set Hybrid and Hibernate modes to "Never/Off"
Under USB settings select "Disable"
Under Multimedia select "Allow ....."
