Windows Complete PC Backup Error

I get the follow errors when I try to run a complete backup:

ERROR: The read volume shadow copy on one of the source volumes failed.
Make sure all volumes included in the backup are available and accessible,
and then retry the operation. (0x8078008A)

Additional Information:
Access is denied. (0x80070005)

Someone please help me. I really need to backup my computer.

MattH:

I cannot offer a comment on your specific error. I do, however, get an
error, myself, when I attempt to use this feature. I've given up! My error
is here:

I'm using a third-party application that I can whole-heartedly recommend.
It's called Acronis True Image 11 Home. It retails for about $36 at
NewEgg.com and it has many features that Vista does not.

RE: Windows Complete PC Backup Error

Hi Matt,

Could you go to Computer->Right click, choose "properties"->Choose "system
protection". Which disks have system protection turned on?
Also, which disks are included in your Complete PC backup?

Thanks,

Re: Windows Complete PC Backup Error

I am getting this error too. I had another error and tried to do a Complete PC Backup (C drive only) before I restored my security settings back to the default and found this error. It says read from volume shadow copy failed. Under more information it says access denied error 0x80070005.

I discoverd I have no System Restore points even though system restore has been turned on for ages (C drive only.) When I try to manually create a restore point, I get access denied error 0x80070005. I tried restoring my security settings to the default, but still get the same error.

(My one other unresolved Vista error is that I can't get Password Protected Sharing to turn off.)
