| | Windows failed to start up problem Hey All, I have Vista Ultimate on my laptop and last night after making some updates through Windows Updates. All seemed well until latter on in the night when Windows closed down and brought up a screen that read: "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause of the cause." It then gave two choices: - Launch Startup Repair (recommended) - Start Windows normally When I launch Startup Repair the screen goes blank for a second and then goes back to the "Windows failed to start....." screen. Apologies but I am not massively computer literate but I would appreciate if someone could offer some help. |

| | RE: Windows failed to start up problem Reboot; tap F8 right at start up, and go into Safe mode. Once there, uninstall the updates. And set Auto Updating to notify you when updates are ready instead! When they are ready to be downloaded again, check to see if any were updates for Hardware from 3rd party manufacturers that caused the problem. If it was, right-click on them> hide them. -- Mick Murphy - Qld - Australia "Kimble" wrote: Quote: > Hey All, I have Vista Ultimate on my laptop and last night after making some > updates through Windows Updates. | | RE: Windows failed to start up problem Hey Mick, Thanks for your help. Unfortunatley it did not work. When I reboot and then try to enter in Safe Mode the computer starts again and then stops at the "Windows failed to start....." screen. Leaving me back where I started. It is not looking positive I am thinking. Kimble |
