| | Blank Screen after loading when turned on Recently my laptop had an accident..it was took into a computer shop and they said I just needed a new screen. I ended up getting a monitor for it bc the price is too high for me to replace. I plugged in and the monitor light would flicker back and forth. and I would see it start to load then nothing. I called in the helped me by pressing F8 continusly to get into the safe mode networking. My question is how do I fix this so when I turn my computer on it goes right on instead of being in safe mode? I looked around to see if I could fix it myself but I guess computers have got a little more in depth since I was familar with them. Thank you for you help, the phone call I placed ended up taking 45 min and I have 2 kids, well babies under the age of 2. So its hard for me to hear on the phone. Thanks Heid -- Heidi |

| | Re: Blank Screen after loading when turned on Hi Heidi, From your description, it looks like the monitor refresh rate or display resolution is set too high. The scenario is going to be slightly different depending on what kind of a monitor you own. If you have a TFT or LCD monitor, your refresh rate should be typically 60 hz or 70 hz. Again this is going to depend on how large the monitor is. For a generic 17 inch TFT monitor, 60 or 70 hz would be ideal. For these monitors, the refresh rate doesn't really matter that much. But for a CRT, refresh rate is very important. It is the number of times the Cathode ray scans the surface of the screen in a second. If it is too high, the monitor is not going to support it. Coming to the screen resolution, depending on the size of the monitor, there is going to be maximum limit at which the monitor can work. If it crosses that, it will say something like gone out of frequency. The whole point is, get details from the manufacturers or from the manual that came with monitor and find out the specifications and optimize the settings. From SafeMode, right-click on the Desktop, choose Properties, Settings and decrease the screen resolution using the slider. You may have to go to the Advanced option and decrease the refresh rate as well. Please post back if what I suggested failed to solve your problem. - Ching -- Ching ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ching's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=48654 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=965209 http://forums.techarena.in |
