Vista - crazy cursor - cursor keeps bouncing back form certain clickable a

I have windows Vista Ultimate. From the moment I installed vista (on a new
gateway notebook) I had this problem. The pointer just won't let me click on
certain clickable areas.

For example, I use msn Mail and if I am using the calendar it just won't let
me click on the task menu. It won't just let me place the pointer on top of
it, the pointer will bounce back away form that area, always a few inches to
the top left corner of the screen. I have to go to the drop down menu to get
to where I want to go.

Any suggestions?
