I love vista 64 but...

I don't understand why people don't like vista. I have had less issues with my vista than I ever did with my xp. Anyway I do have two issues that maybe someone can help me with.
First, I have a card reader that is hooked up to the usb internal port. I can read sd cards etc. with it. My problem is that if I take out the card and then want to put it back in later the card reader goes away out of my view window under my computer. I then have to unplug my card reader from my mother board and then get lucky and log off and log back in or sometimes have to restart to get it to work and show up again. Does anyone care to comment on this?

My second problem is that if I put in a cd or dvd it will not auto play. I have to go into my computer and double click or go to media player and whatever player I decide and hit play. Any more comments?

Thanks.

Your first problem is rather bizarre, don't think I can offer you any help there.

However in regard to autoplay, the option menu is found at Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> AutoPlay. You should be able to set up default actions the way you want from there.

Not exactly sure what you mean by the statement "goes away out of my
view window under my computer" but.....

.......have you tried using the "Show Desktop" button to minimize all
your current running applications and then click on the relevant icon
for your sd card on the task bar in order to bring it to the foreground?

I then have to unplug my card

Re: I love vista 64 but...

Ok, I will explain a little better. It was late and I wanted to explain as quickly as possible. When you go to start, computer, you will have the icons of your hard drives, dvd drives, floppy, and card readers. When I take out the sd card, no problem. If I need to place it back in the slot the icon for the card reader disappears and I can't open it. I don't know how else to explain it.
As for the auto play I wish it were that easy. I have done that many times but to no avail. It just won't auto play.

Are you unmounting the card before physically removing it from the card
reader....if so, then the relevant icon should disappear until the next
time you insert your card.

If you are unmounting your card correctly, then these two problems may
be related......check out the following site for further information:
