I have Vista and Office 2007 on my laptop, but my computer, or something, is
not recognizing the 2007 Word and Excel file type attachments on my gmail.
Any suggestions?

Try downloading the 2007 compatibility patch from MS for Office. The sender
may have used Office 2003 to derive the original document.

Office 2007 opens 2003 office files directly, no patch needed
