| | Constant CPU Usage I have been displaying the CPU Monitor as a gadget on my Vista sidebar. I am running RC 1 (build 5600), and my question is : Why is there a constant CPU usage of anywhere from 25% to 100%. I understand some backround usage, but this is constant and to the point of causing system slow downs. My system ib running on a AMD Athlon 64 chip, with 3 GB of physical memory. |

| | Re: Constant CPU Usage if you changed the standard INDEX options it could be working on the search indexing. can take up to several days to complete. check in index option of control panel for its status. take a look at task manager, should show something. mikeyhsd@sport.rr.com "db_cooper1950" <dbcooper1950@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:4977EA5C-9D5A-4AAD-A83E-A785D6581D7E@microsoft.com... Thank you, I will have a look and see if that is the problem. It does sound like that may be the answer though. |

As soon as I stopped the (Windows Image Acquistion) service, my CPU useage went immediately to 4% and fluxated normally. It seems this is associated with digital image devices, none of which I have connected. I don't know if it will be ok not running this service but I will wait and see. Has anyone else discovered this? |
