I'm using vista business. I've set a schedule to run the disk defragmenter,
but it doesn't work at all. Yet, I've another laptop using vista home
premium, but the disk defragmenter schedule works well. How come?

the task does not run at the scheduled time, the task will run the next time
that the computer is idle.

Yes, that is true. Thank you for mentioning it. It can be handy to have it set to wake up the computer to run and finish when you know you are not using the computer though. This way it does not have to wait on the computer to be idle or at low usage.

i am having trouble with the schedule. i have vista home premium and when i
set the defragmenter to a schedule it accpets it with showing the "next
defragmentation". then i close the sytem tool. when i re-open the system tool
the next scheduled defragmentation is "never"!?
what should i do?
