Vista Will not start after Microsoft Malware Update

I just did an automatic update with Microsoft "Malicious something critical
update 7-13-2008 after the update finished, it said I needed to restart the
computer to finish update. When I restarted the computer it turns on and
loads to just before Vista turns on and it stops. The cursor is there and I
can move it via the mouse. But the computer will not go any further. I shut
down the system holding the on/off button and restarted I tried all four
options Normal and 3 safe Mode starts all do the same thing they stop at the
cursor. I am runing diagnostics on my hard discs now the quick checked
passed. I have a half hour more on the Comprehensive test.

I remember something very simular happening to me 5 years ago on XP same
malicious update I had to start over. I hope I do not have to do that again

Thanks, Martin

RE: Vista Will not start after Microsoft Malware Update

After scanning and starting and stopping at least 20 times I got it to do I
diagnostic due to Vista not Starting, It went into repair mode and I was able
to Restore to an older point. It seams to be ok now. I am running virus scan
and will do another back up. And then run some more tests.
