Windows Crashed--Fix Recommends kb938979 Update Already Installed

Moved this post from Windows Update.

Running windows vista home premium 32 bit. Windows crashed today. In
problems and solutions recommended install kb 938979, but I installed it
November 30, 2007.

Windows Vista SP1 NOT installed. Running McAfee Security Center. I was
just surfing the internet when this problem occurred.

How can this be recommended to fix a problem when I
already have it?
