| | Sharing a file among users on my Vista box I am attempting to share a file among users on my system. The system is a dual core intel Vista box with 3.3Gig RAM and 460Gig HDD. What happens is...not much! The little cyclops eye scans back and forth for half an hour and it STILL isn't complete. Is this usual? What am I doing wrong? |

Is this usual? What am I doing wrong? 1. What exactly "share a file" means. Let others have access to it? Have everyone access it at the same time (normally not possible)? Etc. 2. Where the file is located; i.e., C:\Users\your-user\Documents. 3. Details of the file. What is it? 4. What happens "not much" when? When you or the other users do what? Without any specifics, all I can suggest is if you mean you want all users on the box to have access to the file, like it is a music file and everyone can listen separately, just put it in Public. What I did was I went into User1's account (mine) who is an Admin and right clicked and "shared" it. I never got any further. Just that grinding and then I aborted it. I put it in the Public folders folder. I just wanted to get the sharing approach done though, as my understanding. Public directory is exactly the solution to your problem, as I and others suggested. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic! FAQ - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/#FAQ |
