In addition to replying to PA Bear you should try issuing your own bitsadmin command (in a cmd window): bitsadmin /list /allusers BTW I don't know if your version of Vista provides the bitsadmin command but I think you could download it from Microsoft otherwise. The point is: unless you have been actively scanning and analysing your WindowsUpdate.log you may be unaware whether your system has already started downloading Vista SP1. In addition doing the above bitsadmin command would clarify whether you have *any* suspended BITS jobs. The empirical evidence seems to be that as long as there are suspended jobs on BITS you may not see the AU notification prompt, even for updates which have already been successfully downloaded. E.g. in my case that only happened once I had forced the completion of the XPsp3 download and it had finally showed up in the ReportingEvents.log (in the SoftwareDistribution directory). There is NO "suspended jobs" - the downloads do NOT happen unless I run WU manually, so there is NO similarity between my post and the rest of the thread, I repeat - I do NOT get ANY notifications of ANY updates even though WU is set to notify me of available updates. Sorry, a completely different scenario to that which the replies to my original post went. |

Everything else, but not WU! The only think that I changed is that the network is set as Private. Would that make a difference?
