Big vista problems need help icon/background/graphics/personalise problems

Ive recently gotta a trojan virus and (think) I have got ride of it, anyways the aftermath is not very good:
my harddrive free space has expanded by 17gb and I dont know whats been deleted.
Also my desktop background is black and when I go to change it from the personise command, the different backgrounds are there but they are not showing its just blank icons, and when I try and click on a new background nothing happens the same black background stays on.
further to this whenever I go onto my pics/i-tunes and other folders I can not see the icons they are there but just blank icons,

can anyone help please

Re: Big vista problems need help icon/background/graphics/personalise problems

I'd like to bump this topic, as I seem to be facing the very same problem, except for the Virus and hard drive thing.
A couple of days ago my desktop background went black, for no apparent reason. Furthermore, most icons in folders don't seem to show up.
In all honesty, I have no idea what could have caused this, as I haven't installed any new patches or other software recently.

Rebooting obviously doesn't help, and I've looked at the Ease of Access Center to see if the box was checked - but it wasn't.

If necessary, I can provide screenshots of what I mean. Hopefully someone has a clue what caused this.

PS, I used the search bar, but the other topics regarding black desktops didn't really seem to be answered.

Re: Big vista problems need help icon/background/graphics/personalise problems

Hello,

I believe it's not a virus. I have performed several scans right after my background and icons disappeared, using several programs. None of them found anything at all. I don't get redirected to random websites and every program I use works perfectly fine. Windows itself works fine as well, except for the previously mentioned problem. That's what makes it so confusing; nothing's wrong, except for the background and the icons.

I dont know then buddy I used loads of different av/spyware software and nothing obvious was found someone on a different forum somewhere (forgot were) told me I had a virus when I posted some sort of reports so I just wiped everything and re-booted that sorted it out.
None of my programmes were affected like yours and everything seemed to work ok but i was
