| | downloads die on vista I have noticed two situations where Vista seems to give up on a download that worked fine on XP. One is with Flash objects, such as the crossword puzzle website http://games.latimes.com/index_cross...ure_code=tmcal The puzzle on this website malfunctioned from being incompletely downloaded about three days every week, not always the same days of the week. Then I discovered that I can get it to work correctly every day by making sure that I am not downloading anything else in any other IE windows when I navigate to this website. The other situation is with images; the download usually dies before completing on TV weather websites for radar images (the single-image kind, not the animated ones), like on http://www.keyetv.com/weather/default.aspx The properties display shows that the image is a jpeg. This malfunction occurs on the websites of three different TV stations, and the download sometimes dies even if it is the only IE window doing a download -- perhaps because these pages download so many objects that it interferes with itself somehow? What might be causing downloads to die incomplete? The solution I discovered to the crossword puzzle website indicates that the problem is with Vista, not with the website. Thanks, Jeff |
