Mine is a LAN connection through a Realtek card - is this also true of other people having the same problem? Think I'll try to roll back to an older driver... | | Re: Very slow internet browsing marty, you are my hero. lol. i'm also using a Realtek card, so i rolled back the driver like you suggested, and it looks like the problem may be resolved. i'm going to restart and everything and make sure. i'm so happy something finally worked. Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC, and i rolled back to driver number 5.640.630.2006 from 6/21/2006. thanks again! | vista | Re: Very slow internet browsing hi, I have just got a new laptop (actually its been 2 months now, but i havent resolved its internet connectivity issue, so havent really used it much - still feels new ![]() Ok, i followed this thread and have done almost all the things suggested, but my internet connection is still VERY SLOW [1] netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disable ---> Executed this command maybe 50times, just incase some service would be auto-starting it, but doesnt seem like it helped. If it did, then its not noticeable [2] reverted back to an older version of REALTEK driver (now i am on version 5.663.1212.2006) as one of the threads mentioned (btw, i cant get any older version than this) [3] i use firefox, already using SSL 2.0 [4] i recently installed CA anti-virus (got this one free after rebate but i have tried disabling and then browsing, but this didnt help - so guess CA anti-virus is not an issue)SO PLEASE HELP -- i am running out of ideas, but my vista aint running |

| Windows Vista Home Premium (MS Windows Version 6.0.6001 with Updates on) | Re: Very slow internet browsing Hi, I had a very similar problem and solved it with the following command: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled I rebooted the afterwards. Note that this is different from the similar line in the thread. netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled This does not work for me, my version of Vista does not seem to recognize "int". I had no problems when I first connected to the Internet. However, I connected through the older (3-4 years old) router in the office through a wired line, my internet (and intranet) connection slowed down significantly. Google web site, and the Skype program seemed to work. I found the line above in another discussion group. I ran, and the browser came back to normal speed immediately. (Firefox 3) The POP connection (E-mail) was dropping due to timeout, but that resolved after I rebooted, so you might want to consider that. Hope this helps to the community. |

| Windows Vista Home Premium (MS Windows Version 6.0.6001 with Updates on) | Re: Very slow internet browsing A few days after solving the problem, it recurred. I solved it the same way. I am thinking that this has something to do with me switching networks or connecting to two networks at the same time. In any case, the "netsh" line above and rebooting right after seems to solve the problem. If I find out anything else I'll try to post it in this thread. |
