Re: sandisk memory & superfetch; minimum requirements?

I have found that an external usb 2.0 hard drive works very well for this.

Re: sandisk memory & superfetch; minimum requirements?

Hi

with the Beta2 this works fine now,.
in the beta 2, windows do a quick test to verify the speed of the device,
then use it or not.

I have a 2Gb memory stick which is not used because "too" slow, and another
memory (from my camera) which is recognised and used by Windows.
the 2 devices are connected through the same USB connection, so the
difference is linked to the speed of the memory himself.
My 2Gb sandisk is too slow and my compact flash is good enoguh for vista.

Re: sandisk memory & superfetch; minimum requirements?

It isn't completely related to perceived read-write speed. It's access
speed-related. I have a brand new Corsair Flash Voyager, which ranks among
the fastest sustained R/W speeds, but SUCKS in access (seek) time. Where
other thumbdrives have 1-2 ms, this otherwise FAST Corsair has 20 ms, hence
unusable for fast caching of small portions of memory. Go figure.

RE: sandisk memory & superfetch; minimum requirements?

I have a Verbatim 1 GB I bought 3 months ago, and Vista states it does not
meet the speed requirements for SpeedFetch. What the heck Microsoft! I think
this is a conspiracy of Microsoft and the PC makers to force everyone to
update their computers and accessories in the next year.

RE: sandisk memory & superfetch; minimum requirements?

Remember: you are using this device to speed up your computer. If it is not
fast enough, it might actually hamper performance. I tried to use a 256MB
camera chip and apparently the space on the chip is 235MB, and is, therefore,
not usable for ReadyBoost.

Re: sandisk memory & superfetch; minimum requirements?

Having just installed Beta 2 (Public) I would like to use my USB memory stick
for Ready Boost/Super fetch.

I have been unable to find any referance to Super Fetch or Ready boost. None
of the things mentioned in earlyer posts appear to be any help. I dont see
any options in the propertys for the device or get any option to turn this
feature on when I insert the stick.

Any pointer would be usful...
