Vista only shows 127GB of 500GB

After buying an Acer M5100 desktop with Vista Home Premium preinstalled with an AMD Phenom 8400 Quad Core, 3BG RAM, and 500GB SATA harddrive, for some odd reason only 127GB is showing in my drive. Booting a linux cd, shows the full 500GB and i would very much like to partition my computer. Any sujections on allowing me to use my full harddrive? Any helpy would be highly appreciated!

It is the controller for the drive. It is probably not 48 bit. Did you buy it new or used? If used, I would get a new SATA controller.

Call up the place you bought it from and ask them how to fix it. A new computer should not have the old limitation.
