Vista - Disc Cleanup Error?

Disc Cleanup Error?

I believe my Disc Cleanup Utility is misreporting the amount of space I can
free up but I want a 2nd opinion to be sure. My questions:

Is it misreporting?

When I open Disk Cleanup it tells me that I can free up 327 GB (G not M) of
space on OS (C by clearing out the Temporary Files on OS (C. This would
be great however the total size of my Hard Drive for OS (C is 222 GB with
99.5 GB of free space.

I also have a partition on the same drive with 9.99 GB total and 4.29 GB
free and a seperate drive (not in Raid) with 465 GB total and 423 GB free but
I don't believe the partition or the other drive should factor into the
calculation for freeing up space on OS (C

If it is misreporting is there a fix for this?

I have a screen grab showing the above if necessary but i'm unsure how (or
even if it's possible) to post that on here.

I'm not sure if this would be pertinent but I'm using:

Dell Inspiron 530
Core 2 Duo @ 2.66 GHz
Vista Home Premium SP 1 (32 Bit)
3.00 GB of Ram

Thanks for the quick response earlier!

I tried the fix in the tutorial twice and unfortunately it didn't work, I still get the same erroneous numbers for Temporary files : \. Here's the screen grab I mentioned earlier since it seems I can post it here:

I tend to keep my system pretty clean and I don't normally use Disc Cleanup so if there is no fix I probably wouldn't care much anyhow. I only noticed I had this issue because I like to mess around in Control Panel. However if there is another fix i'd be much obliged.

Also I read the other posts in the tutorial and I haven't ever used a registry cleaner or any spyware removal program (like Spybot or Adaware) but I do have McAfee which came preinstalled on my system. Thanks again ahead of time.

Phil,

Since it is only temp files, it should be safe to delete them, but I'm not sure why it would show larger than your actual drive size. To be extra safe, I would recommend that you backup anything you do not want to lose in case something goes wrong afterwards.

Well you were right I was able to delete them and after a restart everything still seems to be running fine. My OS drive reads that I gained 40.5 GB from the delete which I still think seems high but who knows. Thanks for the help!

You're welcome Phil. I'm happy to hear that all is ok now. Well, at least 40.5 GB is possible unlike the 350 GB. Strange.
