Lots of people will get confused;because the wizard expressly tells you to number the backup dvd's; and my logic was; #1 means #1; Definetly not Jeffproof!!! | Guest | Re: Complete PC Restore-Jill (MSFT) When writing to "multiple CD/DVD's, the very last thing that is written is a record as to where each individual file is located. In order to restore from a multiple set you have to start from the last disk, so this information can be loaded into memory. Otherwise, how would the backup program know where to find the individual files you wish to restore. It has been such since the first backup program (that allowed disk splitting) was developed - about 15 years now. Of course in the beginning people were backing up to multiple floppies. -- Regards, Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User (For email, remove the obvious from my address) Quote from George Ankner: If you knew as much as you think you know, You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew! | Guest | Re: Complete PC Restore-Jill (MSFT) I'm pretty sure I've seen this complaint before and that we changed the text to address it. I tried doing a restore yesterday but only had a single DVD. I didn't see any new text but it's possible it's coming in a later build. I will try to find the bug for this and confirm the build number, but it might not happen today. | Guest | Re: Complete PC Restore-Jill (MSFT) OK, I've found the bug where this was changed. At the top of the restore page where the location and most recent backups are listed, the new text states "If the desired backup is not shown, exit this program, attach the hard disk or insert the last backup DVD, and retry the restore." I think this text should already be in the build you have. It was fixed back in July. -- This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
