| Vista Ultimate 64 | Vista 64 will not load Hello, I recently rebuilt my desktop with an ASUS P5Q motherboard with a recent Ameritrends BIOS version, Intel Q9550 chip, Sapphire Radeon 4870X2, and 2x2GB Corsair PC 8500 memory. I used my Vista Ultimate 64 from the original hard drive and it reactivated properly and the system worked fine for approximately two weeks. Two days ago, after playing Doom 3 for an hour or so, I exited the game and shut the system down normally. Yesterday when I attempted to start up, Vista would not go beyond the Green bar - it stalls with a blank screen. Neither will it load in any form of safe mode, and it will not load from the original DVD. I had resident on a separate hard drive Windows XP 64, and I am able to boot up the computer by changing the boot order in my BIOS. Once booted with XP 64 I can see the drive with explorer, and disk management reports that the drive with Vista 64 is "healthy." However, one other data drive is showing "offline" and I have been prompted to reformat it, which I have not done. I have updated and run AVAST and Spybot, but no attempt to load Vista 64 has been successful. I would certainly appreciate any help. Aubrey Mills |

| Vista Ultimate 64 | Re: Vista 64 will not load Hello, Yesterday I tried once again to load Vista 64 from the DVD. After approximately one and one half hours it did load. From there I was able to use the various tools to restore everything except the hard drive that crashed. I speculate that that that hard drive crash somehow threw Vista off its stride. Although I am still running through a few tests and defragmenting, etc., Vista seems to be back and I can replace the failed hard drive. Thaks. | Ultimate x64 | Re: Vista 64 will not load to be honest... I would be careful building my own computer and trying this x64 lol... I am realizing there still are so many things not working properly here... I would say you are lucky with how it went |

| Vista Ultimate 64 | Re: Vista 64 will not load Hi Lakmilis, I agree. Even though it was pesky, it could have been much worse. At present, the system seems to be working within normal limits for everything except the failed hard drive. I am lucky there too, as I had backed up the data recently. I have set restore points and I am soon expecting to acquire the Acronix True image software to keep things in hand, I hope. Of course, there I lots of things going on in Vista 64 that I do not pretend to understand, but that seems to be the way of the world. Thanks for your input. |

| Vista Home Premium 64 bit | Re: Vista 64 will not load I have the same problem as Aubrey Doom 3 installs but will not run. No Problems with Call of Duty 4 or running Steam games. Checked around the internet and found no solution. I tried Loading it on Mint-6 64 Linux using the native linux version and it WORKED!! It's a streamlined version of Ubuntu . Why don't you play the native linux installer ? You don't have to buy it, just download the linux installer and copy some of the game files from the cd to the harddrive. Enjoy |
