Poor Gaming Perfomance

I have a pretty good system hardware wise. I play games like NFS Carbon and running the resolution at 1280 x 960. I have most of the video options set to medium. This game is 3 or 4 years old and there is pretty decent video lag. I have gone through and turned off everything that I don't need in the startup menu. I do not have viruses or spyware. My antivirus only uses 6 mb of ram and is put on silent mode when gaming. In my mind I should be running this game with all the graphics turned up all the way with no lag. Does anyone have any suggestions of things I could try?

No, I'm sorry but thought transference doesn't work in Usenet. ;-) You'll
need to post full details. These links will help you with that.

Re: Poor Gaming Perfomance

Unless you actually post them at each interval of "posting a question" no
one here can actually see them. during a reply to a post then no as it would
be there from the original

Re: Poor Gaming Perfomance

I personally have that game and had somewhat similar horsepower under the
hood.. Running Vista business and my video card is a little stronger being a
ATI toxic 4850 but the game runs fast and smooth for me. but then again back
when I first ran that game I had a pny 7900gs nvidia graphics card(and all
was well) I was running a Intel core2 duo 1.86 with 4gigs of ddr2 667. Now I
have a core2 quad 6600 and 4gigs ddr800. If there is a any weakness in your
system I would have to say video card but doubt it.. Not much help I know
but just throwing it out there

Re: Poor Gaming Perfomance

I know there are faster cards out there but it seems to me like an HD3870 would have no problem running a game like Need for Speed Carbon. I just bought the card and PSU today so I am going to try Grid and see what happens. That game is much more power hungry than NFS Carbon.
