I'm not expert on PCs but I now wonder if my McAfee setting somehow turned
"Defender" off, when I made the changes below one did involve turning it
from Manual to Automatic.
My new PC came with a basic McAfee anti virus, I upgraded it to my McAfee
subscription service. Maybe this changed Defender settings to manual? Anyway
is working fine now!
