Lisa, can you give some info. of you laptop such as how much RAM, Processor
etc. Your system resources may be limited and with this info. we may be able
to better assist you. Make it a great day.

The laptop is not powering down. It is probably going into hibernate. A good
idea would be to remove ac power AND the battery. This would force the
laptop to start from cold..

I tried removing the battery and unplugging the laptop and I still get the
same frozen screens. I cannot even get to the Start menu or I would attempt
a restore. The mouse pointer if frozen and I can right click and bring up
the options but that's all.

You will most likely have to do a destructive restore on your computer. If
you have no backups of important stuff, find somebody who will hook your
drive up to their computer and save what you can..
