There are numerous reasons why System Restore won't work but since you've
told us nothing about your computer, I can't give you specifics. Here are
some of the reasons:

1. Computer is infected. Make sure it's clean:

4. Computer is a Gateway:

Can't use System Restore with Gateway Computer (Jill Zoeller, MS) - Go to
System in Control Panel and open the System Protection tab. Do you see a
drive called "Missing"? Selecting C:\ and deselecting "Missing" will allow
the system to take restore points normally. Note that you will not have any
restore points to restore to until a new restore point is made.

Does any one know how to restore the restore point from dos in Vista Ultimate 64 bit.
I need to know the steps and directories in how to restore any one of them listed.
For some reason the restore points are not listing. When I use Vista restore program
I think it's a big bug that Windows needs to be fix in vista.

4GB of memory
320 GB hard drive with 200 GB free
100 GB hard drive with 40 GB free
Nvidia Geforce 8500 Gt 256mb video
SuperAntiSpyware for viurs


Since the first post. I still have not fix it and now have a new problem with the control Panel missing all but a few short cuts in there. I have tried to un-hide them with no luck. I have tried every thing listed on the internet.

This Vista 64 seem to be a big waste of money. I can't believe Windows has not fixed these bugs in it. These are two major Bugs.
Are the a wake or in la la land. It seems to be happening to every one in time.

Ok, let me try to explain what I'm trying to do.
I'm trying to get to the restore points that are not listed in the restore program it's self. I know how to do it with Win Xp by recopying from the folder RP24 or what is the second from the last number listed in the folder Snapshot or what ever.

I'm trying to do the same thing here with Vista Ultimate 64. I can not use the restore program its self because it only list few restore points. I need the restore points files that go as far back as they go. Hope fully a month ago.
The problem is. I do not know what files and folders to do this in Vista.
Because they have changed in Vista .

If any one know how to do these steps from dos step by step (not using the Restore Points Programs)

I'm still trying to get my Control Panel back. It says to down load sp1 for Vista 64 and install it. so I go to install it and it says I all ready have sp1
Man, Vista made sure that no one can fix its problems.
Oh and by the way with the Control Panel items gone. It will not download any updates. So if Vista came out with the fixes. there is no way to install them.
OH and I'm dam sure Microsoft will not refund your money back. So every one out there who paid for Vista which was not cheap. They made billions and millions of people just got a program that worthless.

Any way this Vista is just making me madder and madder

Please forgive my ignorance, but is it possible to create a restore
point silently using *rstrui.exe*? How can I do that?

Restore, with no user interface and no interaction with the user
whatsoever and this VBS solution fits my requirements perfectly. After
