Unexpected AC Power Loss

Hello -
At random times during my computers opperation, my whole computer suddenly
seems to loose its AC Power. This only started occuring after installing
Vista. It then has much trouble turning back on - as it keeps doing the same
thing many times, until finnally it boots correctly, also showing the "safe
mode" options.
Can anyone please help?
Thankyou,
Ryan

Re: Unexpected AC Power Loss

If the computer is suddenly shutting down due to loss of power, with
absolutely no prior warning or error indication, you have a hardware
problem. It is co-incidental that it started occurring after you installed
Vista.

Start by checking to see if you have an over heating problem. Are all of
your cooling fans clean of dust and dirt buildup, especially the CPU
fan/heatsink and the power supply fan intake and exhaust areas?

RE: Unexpected AC Power Loss

As well, depending on the age of the system/power supply...It could be in
it's dying stages.

Also ensure your PC is connected to a surge protector to ensure voltage
spikes are not forcing the system to power itself down.

Are you plugged into a UPS?
They fail poorly sometimes, with erratic switching in and out, sending
a battery discharged signal to the CPU box.

Got bad Power supply fan?

RE: Unexpected AC Power Loss

Sounds like your cpu is running to hot.
When that happens, in most computers these days, it just shuts down without
any kind of warning, and it will turn on again when it has cooled down a bit.
After a shutdown, you turn your computer on and it turns off almost right
away.

Look in your bios and see how hot your cpu is. If it is running hot, open
your case and see if your cpu cooler is still working and dust free.
I live in spain and i see this problem a lot, it gets very hot here in the
summer.
Your cpu has to work harder with windows vista, in turn your cpu gets hotter.

But then i can be wrong.
