Vista - Vista chkdsk wont skip

Don't you get an option to skip the CHKDSK at the boot?

Assuming you can get to safe mode at the boot, at a command prompt type

sfc /scannow

Let it run and it will fix some errors and maybe not some, but it may help.

Also read this to stop it checking and get you out of the loop

Need to **STOP** chkdsk at boot

When you do run check disk, it has to be at an elevated command prompt
(right click and select run as administrator) and then type

CHKDSK C: /R/F

And select Y to do it at next reboot. On big drives it can take HOURS

Do one drive at a time
