Troubleshooting Standby

Hi all,

I'm troubleshooting an issue where a laptop doesn't want to go into standby
mode. I suspect that it's a service or software related issue but how would
I troubleshoot this type of problem? Thanks!

Michael

Re: Troubleshooting Standby

Hi Michael,
I guess you could look in Control Panel/System Maintenence/Power Options. If
all is well check the BIOS settings.

Re: Troubleshooting Standby

So there is no documentation or logs that I could check? The only thing that
happens is that I either close the lid or press the physical button (or the
start menu | power button) and the screen goes black. It doesn't spin the
drive or anything. It makes an entry in the System event log from the source
Kernel-Power and the description is "The system is entering Away Mode.". But
for the life of me, I can't seem to find how I can determine if a service is
keeping it awake or what.

Any help from anyone is much appreciated!

Michael
