Why is Fast User Switching in Vista so slow?

With Linux I can hit ctrl-alt-F7, ctrl-alt-F8, etc to switch X servers (with
different users logged in to each X server), and it's instantaneous. But in
Vista on the same hardware, when I use FUS, it takes at least 15 seconds
even if just two users are logged in and they aren't running any programs,
with Vista reporting that only about half of my 1GB of RAM is in use. Why is
it so slow?

I'm running RC2. Which release of Vista are you using?

Re: Why is Fast User Switching in Vista so slow?

Here is RTM , and hardware is CPU T2300 RAM 512x2 Intel 945 mobile .

Switch user to desktop is less then 2 sec.

Maybe O.S version or Hardware & BIOS don't design for Vista .

Re: Why is Fast User Switching in Vista so slow?

You need to check performance and reliability checker to see where you are
having bottle necks or hardware problems.
