| | Vista Complete PC Recovery - Different Disks? I need to recover my computer to a new set of system disks - how can this be done. Having performed a complete PC Backup I tested an in place recovery with the identical disks successfully. I now need to change the disks to a different configuration. The old disks had a larger number of volumes and were not in a Raid configuration. I have only backed up the system volume so the recovery should only need one volume. All the data volumes were backed up separately. The new disks are larger than the old disks have no volumes defined and do have a Raid configuration (but that seems irrelevant can't get it to work with/without raid). The system hardware has not changed. Once I select the COMPLETE PC backup set and get to the point of checking the installation disks/partitions the recovery processes halts complaining of insufficient recovery volumes/disks. How can I get around having the exact same set of disks installed? Many thanks J |

| | Re: Vista Complete PC Recovery - Different Disks? ? I want to restore the original Complete PC backup to a different set of larger disks - theory says should be possible but the check routines of the recovery complain the disks are not identical to the old ones. In fact I only need to recover 1 VHD to 1 DISK unfortunately it is the system I wish to recover. Is there a method to rebuild a system boot disk from a VHD? i.e. Is it possible to bypass/override the physical drive/space checks during a restore? Many thanks "AJR" wrote: > I am confused (happens frequently) why not run Complete PC again? > > "Jules" <jules@newsgroup.nospam> wrote in message > news:E0E179CA-BE9D-47B6-BB7C-1D029A9809A9@microsoft.com... > >I need to recover my computer to a new set of system disks - how can this > >be > > done. > > > > Having performed a complete PC Backup I tested an in place recovery with > > the > > identical disks successfully.
