| | Horizontal Bars on monitor after certain actions I've had Vista for a couple of days and everything within the OS is great. Just one HUGE problem...the screen gets jumbled into a bunch of horizontal bars after I do a couple of things. After closing the lid to my laptop and opening it back up, even after changing the setting to "Do Nothing when lid is closed", and after disconnecting another monitor. The only thing that has allowed me to get the screen visible again is a system restore to a point that causes me to lose a lot of progress I've made. Running Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit on a 1.6 GHzAMD Mobile Sempron Processor 2800+, with 1024 mb RAM. Any ideas on why this is happening? |

Any ideas on why this is happening? Did the laptop come with Vista preinstalled or did you upgrade to it? If the former, contact the laptop mftr. because there is a problem with their drivers and power management software. If the latter, you need to install Vista drivers for all your hardware and any specialized power management software. You must get the drivers and laptop software from your laptop mftr.'s website for your specific model laptop. If the laptop mftr. does not have Vista drivers, contact them to find out when they will. If your laptop will never have Vista drivers, put XP back on the machine. Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" MS-MVP Windows - Shell/User |
