Is memory increase helpful?

The index for aero on my notebook is 2.5, my RAM is 512 MB. The speed of
Vista is really not overwhelming, aero is activated.

Does it make sense to increase memory in order to achive better performance?
(I don't mind to upgrade to 2048 MB).

Thanks in advance

Re: Is memory increase helpful?

Yes, 512 MB is absolute minimum. I upgraded a laptop from 512 to 1.25
(Replaced one 256MB stick with a 1GB for 1.25 total) and it really sped
things up. Especially if you do more than use Notepad!

Going to 2GB would be a big improvement, but there is a point of diminishing
returns. From 1GB to 2GB is a good jump in performance, but going from 1.5
to 2 isn't that great. So, 1.5GB seems to be the sweet spot. Unless you do a
lot of memory intensive processes.

You will see a dramatic improvement in performance. The index for my
notebook is 2.0 due to the integrated graphics and it runs Aero just fine on
2 GB (no speed issues).

More RAM

For both laptops and desktops, for good performance with Vista, 2gb RAM are essential. When I installed Vista with 512mb of RAM on my desktop, the snail was faster. I installed two 1 gb memory sticks, and my computer runs like a NASCAR speedster. Well, maybe not that fast, but pretty close.

It makes absolutely no sense.
