Move Data to another Partition in Vista

I really should not need to ask this…but I loaded Vista into my brand new C2D
computer last week and I cannot see how I can move ALL data for ALL users
from the C primary boot partition to either the second partition on that
drive or to another drive. It should be a simple matter, but I have
struggled from DOS-3.11-98-XP-XPsp2-Vista over the years without more than
average problems, I am now at my witts end.

When I try drag-and-drop, all that moves is a shortcut back to C. When I
try right click there is no cut or move option. All other ideas produce the
    same result.

I would love to get this sexy new computer in order prior to my 75th
birthday in a couple of weeks so any suggestions would be appreciated…thanks
    in advance

I sure would like to know how to do this, too. I've been "in the biz"
for over 20 years, though out now for a couple or so. I have a loaded,
brand new Dell E1505 runnning Vista HP32, and I'd like to create a data
partion ... preferably move the entire "Users" directory to that
partition. Can't see how to do it. (I'd settle for moving my own data
directory, but if I could move the "Users" dir, then adding new users
would be almost a snap.) Now I've only had the laptop for a couple
days, so I wasn't going to ask this question w/o more testing. BUT ...
since bunyup has asked, I'm going to chime in. Help pls?

    Thx and Regards,

    Margaret

    This should help -
    http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/200...e-machine.aspx
This method works to move all personal folders from Users\Username except
    Desktop and Contacts.

You can move most of it but not all of it.

Open the base User directory, e.g. C:\Users\User Name\ Then on each of the
folders you can right click select properties then the location tab. Change
the target to the location that you want it to be.
You have to do it folder individually. I've relocated mine to
    D:\Users\Mark\....

Wow, Microsoft made this really difficult. Now I'm a Windows person,
but I still think it should be simple to move the entire "Users"
directory to another partition. But that's just me.
