| | Re: Window Vista Experience index base scores !! Mr. Rogers, I would assume that the fine Vista user was just enganging in good-spirited online conversation in a newsgroup THAT is relevant to the discussion thread posted. Afterall, I must assume anyone who participates in a "Windows Vista" newsgroup would expect any topic pertaining to Windows Vista. Moreover, since the group emphasizes on maintenance and performance of a still new and exciting piece of software; I can understand any persons excitement when owning any maching and later seeing others enjoying the same thing. Mr. Rogers, as a Microsoft MVP and "group moderator" I take your response and post/advice personally. I am quite shocked negatively and I feel yet more uncomfortable as to what I paid 400 dollars for two months ago - and this group, I feel, hasn't gained anything from your "slap on the wrist" for what was a interesting and fun survey. I highly doubt that the servers and technology of Microsoft Windows Vista OS "maintenance and performance" newsgroup. | | Re: Window Vista Experience index base scores !! Hi Martin, While I fully understand your position, please take into account that the design of these groups is for support of users having problems, not idle chit-chat and comparisons. It is indeed fun to compare notes and share in excitement, but it also tends to clog up a group with chatter that does not offer help to those seeking assistance. In fact, it can detract from it and unnecessarily tie up those trying to help, and those who might possibly have advise to offer. Plus, those searching for assistance will not find answers in the "my score's higher than yours" threads that inevitably result. Just a note too that MVP's are not moderators, we are just users like yourself that spend a lot of time here helping others. I hold no more sway here than you do. Rather than it being a "slap on the wrist", my response was to redirect the poster to a more appropriate forum and hopefully keep the posts here more on track. Perhaps I could have stated it better or been a bit more recalcitrant, but I have a habit of getting a bit short on responses now and then. A failing on my part, but I am what I am. Thanks for listening. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "mgordon" <mgordon@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:48E7BE78-52FB-47D1-B405-AD206DC34330@microsoft.com... > Mr. Rogers, > > I would assume that the fine Vista user was just enganging in > good-spirited > online conversation in a newsgroup THAT is relevant to the discussion > thread > posted. | | Re: Window Vista Experience index base scores !! Hi! Im currently having a small problem with my windows vista base score. I recently upgraded my graphics card to xfx gts 8800 640mb and wanted to update my windows base score but it wont update. The problems are a little widespread apparently. The loading bar stops right near the end and gives an error message involving operating system, drivers, etc. Nothing specific. I've updated all my drivers and the only hardware change is the graphics card. Any advice? Thanks in advance, Brian |
