| | RAM usage by video card driver Hello Just started testing Vista Enterprice 64bit, the PC has nVidia GF 6600GT video card. With both the retail DVD and latest beta drivers, display properties show there are 256MB shared memory used by the video subsystem. Aero is disabled. Why is this and how can I limit the driver to only using the card onboard memory. Thanks |

Check in the BIOS or in the display properties for the card for a setting for this. -- Rock [MS-MVP User/Shell] |

It would be either through the settings provided by the driver, or the BIOS. You could contact nVidia tech support as well. -- Rock [MS-MVP User/Shell] |

Look in the BIOS for: "Frame Buffer Size" = Frame buffer size is the total amount of system memory locked by the BIOS for video. A larger frame buffer size should result in higher video performance. Also "Aperture Size" = Establishes the maximum amount of system memory that the Operating System can use for video memory. This is primarily used for buffering textures for the AGP video device. mi >> Rock wrote: >>> "KShvats" <z@z.z> wrote >>>> Hello >>>> >>>> Just started testing Vista Enterprice 64bit, the PC has nVidia GF >>>> 6600GT video card.
