| | control panel HI can anyone tell me why my control panel is now being unresponsive? i click on it to open it, it then flashes onto the screen and then goes away, its really driving me mad. I contacted dell support who took me through a system restore that was yesterday - it did work for a while and now its doing it again. I have run the virus scan and apart from some unwanted cookies there is nothing wrong? Rebecca |

When you say system restore do you mean using the System Restore feature in Vista or some sort of system recovery that was provided by Dell? Did you try it again after the problem happened a second time? Also note that a virus scan doesn't catch all malware. Have you checked with Defender and several other programs such as Ad-Aware SE and SpyBot S&D? -- Rock [MS-MVP User/Shell] |

| | Re: control panel Hi I believe that the OP is referring to the window that opens on new installs that tell you what vista can do. It has icons for control panel mail etc. "mikeyhsd" <mikeyhsd@comcast.net> wrote in message news:uHfWUqBhHHA.4064@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... it might help us in understanding in the event this problem comes up again as to what exactly this pop up box thing was and exactly what it said. mikeyhsd@comcast.net "rebeccaw" <rebeccaw@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:5D995713-0DB9-4DBF-BC9E-8B2664E142B8@microsoft.com...
