Laptops

Hello,
I am doing research for the best laptop computer's for college students. I
will be an freshman in the fall and need too purchase a laptop soon. I am not
huge on games, and web cams... I want a super fast computer, with a big hard
drive, good sound quality, and good battery life. If you were a college
student, and had to go out and buy a laptop today, what kind would you buy
and why?

The more information you can give me, the better. Thanks
Katie

The first thing to do would be to contact the college that you'll be
attending and ask them what minimum system requirements they have.

Re: Laptops

I just bought one two weeks ago. You also need to ask yourself how much can
you spend, and what are your ultimate ends?

The one I got was the HP tx1119us, but I also looked at the Toshiba
u205-s5067. They both have dual-core 64-bit CPUs, 2Gb of RAM, and 160Gb hard
disks. They both are very small, and use a 12" display.

Only problem is the HP came with so much junkware that I had to nuke it and
load Windows Vista Ultimate from scratch...

RE: Laptops

Be careful regarding the graphics card. My DELL Inspiron (2Gb RAM) has an ATI
Mobility X1300, and actually supposed to eat 760MB system RAM from the 2GB.
DELL told me, it is not a bug, but a feature !

Leaving Norton-Symantec for Good

Re: Laptops

I would avoid Sony also ....

They look kool and but are high priced - though the video is excellent.

Unfortunately most of the software (making it look like it ws worth the
price) is 60 day trial-ware that is almost impossible to get off. Likewise,
if you use their icon to update from Vista Home Premium to Vista ultimiate
Sony then tells you they no longer provide assistance or warranty support.
This was my first - and will be my last Sony ---
