Re: Help and Suport appears without CSS

Hello teresa,

If you can't see the Help and Support icons, here is the fix:

1. Close the Help and Support window.
2. Start the Registry Editor by clicking Start, typing "regedit" (no
quotation marks), and pressing ENTER. (You need administrator privileges to
do this.)
3. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.png.
4. Right-click the .png folder, point to New, and then click String value.
5. Add a new string named "Content Type" (without quotation marks).
6. Double-click the new Content Type string and set the Value data to
"image/png" (without quotation marks).
7. Close the Registry Editor, and then open Help and Support.

I hope this helps you with your problem.

If it doesn't solve your problem, I'll need more specific information about
what you are experiencing.

Re: Help and Suport appears without CSS

Hi Thomas,

I had the same problem as Theresa, but my registry already contained
"image/png" for Content Type under HKEYCLASSES_ROOT/.png. I tried
putting it in anyway but got the expected error message that it already
existed.

I have Windows Vista Ultimate (OEM version) and Help was displaying
with proper CSS formatting until the formatting disappeared for no
apparent reason.

I would appreciate your help in getting it back. Is there something I
can singularly install from the Vista DVD?

Thanks, Peter

Hi Peter

Try similar only:
1. Close the Help and Support window.
2. Start the Registry Editor by clicking Start, typing "regedit" (no
quotation marks), and pressing ENTER. (You need administrator
privileges to
do this.)
3. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.png.
4. Right-click the .css folder, point to New, and then click String
value.
5. Add a new string named "Content Type" (without quotation marks).
6. Double-click the new Content Type string and set the Value data to
"text/css" (without quotation marks).
7. Close the Registry Editor, and then open Help and Support.

It worked for me.
