| | Power Scheme Question I have made a copy of the "Power saver" power scheme and called it "Mike's Power Saver" so that I can make significant changes without messing up the built-in scheme. When the "Mike Power Saver" scheme is on battery, my windows and start menu are not transparent. What setting do I need to change to make this not happen? I am pretty sure that I have to use the command line utility powercfg.exe to change this. My video card is the built-in Intel 945 shared memory video. Also, is there a way for me to set the battery life and performance star ratings that show up on the default plan settings? One other thing, when I hold the mouse over the battery symbol in the notification area it will give me a message "your current plan may reduce system performance" when I am plugged in. Is there a way to disable this? Thanks, Mike |

My video card is the built-in Intel 945 > shared memory video. Some power settings might also be available in the BIOS, but Windows may ignore them, and they won't influence Aero's functionality. In the plan's Advanced Settings, compare each item click "Change settings that are currently unavailable", and compare each setting for battery vs. AC to find the differences. > Also, is there a way for me to set the battery life and performance star > ratings that show up on the default plan settings? Those "star" ratings graphs are strictly cosmetic and displayed only for the built-in plans. They never change. > One other thing, when I hold the mouse over the battery symbol in the > notification area it will give me a message "your current plan may reduce > system performance" when I am plugged in. Is there a way to disable this? It sounds like there are problems with your plan's configuration. You might scrap it and start over by basing your custom plan on the built-in Balanced plan. -- David Dickinson eveningstar at die-spammer-die dash mvps dot org Please reply only to the newsgroup, not by email. |
