"Couldn't get process information from remote machine"

This message pops up when I first log on to my computer. I am using Windows
Vista and a password-protected account on my desktop. The only option
provided is to click OK to close the pop-up window. Everything seems to work
normally. Any idea why this is happening and how to eliminate the pop-up?

Since we really don't have any specific information about your machine
(home? office?), it's hard to say for sure. Obviously, you must have
something that is trying to get information or otherwise make a
connection to a remote machine and failing. Without more details from
you, all I can suggest is that you look at what is starting with Windows
and if you do have any mapped network drives, check to make sure the
remote computer is on and properly configured to allow the connection
from your machine.

This link will show you how to do a clean boot on a Vista computer. You
can ignore the title part about games or programs interfering:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796

You may not want (or need) to do everything suggested in the article
above. At the very least, you can do just the msconfig part to see what
is starting with Windows.

After you've had a chance to try out that troubleshooting, if you need
more help please post back with more details. This link will show you
what to include in your next post:
