| | Overall Poor Vista Performance I just purchased a brand new Sony Vaio laptop that came with Vista pre-loaded. I am constantly running into websites that freeze for no reason. Microsoft Office Software that freeze for no reason. I can believe Vista is so screwed up! I never had these kinds of issues with XP. Vista cannot even run Microsoft Products! What do I do with a laptop loaded with Vista that does not work? What do I do? Change the operating system? Vista folks better quickly release some update patches to fix the way Vista operates. I would like to know if other people are haveing random Vista problems where it just freezes when try to do simple task. |

| | Re: Overall Poor Vista Performance Larry; Since the computer is new, contact Sony Tech Support. If they can not give you a satisfactory resolution, return the computer. If you are constantly freezing, there is something wrong with the computer, not necessarily Windows Vista. It there a lot of junk/trial ware etc running? If not needed, uninstall what is unnecessary. Remove what is not needed fro startup. How much memory? 1 GB RAM is usually a minimum with 2 GB needed by many but it depends on what you do. Low memory will not cause freezing but the computer can get sluggish and seem to freeze at times. -- Jupiter Jones [MVP] http://www3.telus.net/dandemar http://www.dts-l.org "Larry" <Larry@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3FEA3D6F-E432-4DE7-97C0-7418BADC8E40@microsoft.com... >I just purchased a brand new Sony Vaio laptop that came with Vista > pre-loaded. Spend some time googling "vista tweaks." I have a new Vaio (as of January) running Vista Business. It took a while to work out the kinks but, for the most part, Vista is running well on my machine -- all my software and hardware (including legacy) runs reliabily and well. You could call Sony's tech support, but immediately ask for Tier 2. Sony outsources Tier 1 support to subcontractors in India who don't know anything about computers but, instead, follow scripts ("Is your computer plugged in? Is it connected to the Internet? Please check now."). Their Tier 2 people are a bit more competent -- at least they know what they don't know. > > |
