System Restore "Catastrophic Failure"

I have installed Vista Beta 2 and everything is working right except for
System Restore, when I launch it from the control panel I receive a message
that there is a "catastrophic failure". Any idea the cause?

Pentium 4 3.0 (O/C to 3.4)
1 GB Ram
Hard Drive: C: 25.5 GB (Vista), D: 97.7 GB (XP Pro), E: 19.7 GB Data, F:
1.99 GB Data, G: 3.99 GB Data
ATI Radeon 9600 128 MB

Yesterday I tried out the System Restore to see if it worked. Previously
under XP, System Restore would sometimes work, but most of the time it
did not. However, I found that System Restore worked very good in Vista.
I messed up an uninstall if VMware Player and even manually deleted the
files. When i did the System Restore, everything, including VMware
Player was restored and in good order.
