Windows Vista lowered my CPU Speed

Hi, I bought my computer from Canada Computers with an AMD Sempron 2800+ that
had been over clocked by the retailer/manufacturer to 1.8Ghz (normally runs
at 1.6), and just recently I installed Windows Vista Home Basic 32-Bit and my
CPU speed dropped to 1.6Ghz, and I don't know how to get it back up since my
BIOS does not support user over clocking. If anyone can tell me why my clock
speed dropped and how to get it back up I'd really apreaciate it. By the way
my motherboard is an MSI K8MM-V and I believe I have the latest BIOS.

Re: Windows Vista lowered my CPU Speed

If your BIOS does not support OC'ing...increasing the FSB or the CPU
multiplier..how did Canada Computers OverClock it in the 1st place???
Think about it....as that is the only way to OC.

I don't know how, but it was done. All I want to know now is why windows
changed it, and how to get it back.

Ask Canada Computers that question. Let us know what they say.

Re: Windows Vista lowered my CPU Speed

A Sempron 2800+ runs at a multiplier of 12 with an FSB speed of
166=======1992
I understand your mobo does not support OverClocking but you should be able
to check these settings in your BIOS.
This is an OC tool ..read the instructions carefully

Re: Windows Vista lowered my CPU Speed

Well that over clocking utility is way to complicated for me, I guess I'll
have to bring the comp in to Canada Computers.
